The MoveFwd Counseling Philosophy
MoveFwd counselors work with young people and their families from a strengths-based perspective and incorporate therapy approaches that support and empower youth. These approaches include utilizing a harm-reduction model and aspects of solution focused, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral and client centered approaches. Our masters-level counselors are equipped to facilitate or co-facilitate groups in schools or at our MoveFwd offices, on a wide variety of relevant topics. We provide short-term counseling for youth (ages 12-24) and their families.
Young people and their parents may contact MoveFwd directly. All services are free. No insurance or referrals are needed. We also remove transportation barriers by offering to meet our clients in our MoveFwd offices, the schools we serve, local coffee houses or clients’ homes.
Many MoveFwd clients also find our counseling and case management services through referrals from school staff and local police officers. MoveFwd serves young people who attend school or reside in the Eden Prairie, Hopkins, St. Louis Park or Wayzata school districts. We also serve students attending Main Street School of Performing Arts.
